Vitrectomy is the surgical removal of the vitreous gel from the middle of the eye . It may be done when there is a retinal detachment, because removing the vitreous gel gives your eye doctor (ophthalmologist) better access to the back of the eye.

Repair of a Corneoscleral tear involves treating the cornea, sclera and restoring the eyes’ original anatomy. For repairing the laceration, your surgeon will first evaluate the severity of damage, administer anesthesia and then if needed, suture the globe before exploring the wound. Your surgeon will suture the limbus, and perform procedures to treat the prolapsed iris or vitreous if necessary. Your surgeon will then explore the scleral wound and repair the segments of scleral lacerations.
